会意字, literally meaning “bringing-meanings-together-character”, is a type of characters in modern Chinese writing system. “Person” next to a “tree”, means “rest”. “No” on top of a “mouth” forms “deny”. “Two” “persons” combined means “kindness”. “Woman” “owned” forms the character “spouse”. The name of this project, 意, is such a character as well: “sound” on a “heart” means “meaning”.
