My inspiration came from the similarities between clothing and books from the earliest times. (And think of the vocabulary for book design now: book sleeves, book jackets…) Earlier Chinese books are made from fabric, into scrolls. I designed a book for which you open like a piece of clothing. And the structure of the book is held together by intense stitching or my red threads.
