Bridging the Gap
Yale Architecture Core 4, 2022
Situated in Long Island City, a previously industrial part of Queens that is transitioning into commercial and residential, the site has a need for an early childhood center and school. While we identified the gaps between industrial past and residential future, between young and old, between rich and poor, we also identified the opportunities. Our project envisions housing with schools, education programs for youth, community kitchens, greenhouses and food cultivation gardens. The series of sites will work with existing community service infrastructure, to clean up the brownfield sites and to educate our youth about the environment.
